The classic Golden Triangle Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur is the perfect introduction to India. This 9-day itinerary extends that circuit in two directions at once: a tiger safari at Ranthambore National Park, one of India’s premier wildlife reserves, and Varanasi, the oldest living city on Earth and the spiritual soul of the country. The result is a single, perfectly paced week-and-a-half that captures everything international travelers come to India hoping to find the Taj Mahal, a wild tiger in its natural habitat, and the Ganga Aarti ceremony on the banks of the Ganges.
Over 8 nights you’ll walk through Mughal forts and marble tombs, watch the sun rise over the Taj Mahal, track tigers across the jungles of Ranthambore, wander the pink sandstone lanes of Jaipur’s royal City Palace, and drift past centuries-old temples on a sunrise Ganges boat ride. Every hotel, driver, guide, and domestic flight is arranged in advance by our Jaipur-based team — you simply arrive and experience India, without the guesswork.

Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Delhi
On arrival at Delhi airport, you’ll be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, set out to explore Old and New Delhi: the towering Red Fort, the grand Jama Masjid, and the serene, lotus shaped Lotus Temple. For a truly local experience, take a cycle-rickshaw ride through the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk, weaving past spice merchants and street-food stalls. Overnight in Delhi.
Day 2: Delhi – Agra
Drive to Agra (approx. 3–4 hours), home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Visit the Taj Mahal, the marble mausoleum Emperor Shah Jahan built for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, followed by the red-sandstone Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that once housed Mughal emperors. Overnight in Agra.
Day 3–4: Agra – Ranthambore
Drive to Ranthambore National Park, en route stopping at Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned red-sandstone Mughal city built by Emperor Akbar. Over two nights at Ranthambore, experience:
- Two jungle safaris (jeep or canter, subject to availability) tracking Bengal tigers, leopards, sloth bears, and native birdlife across the reserve’s core and buffer zones
- Expert naturalist guides sharing insight into the park’s wildlife and conservation history ● An evening to relax at your jungle lodge after a day in the wild
Note: Ranthambore’s core zones are closed every Wednesday, and buffer zones every Tuesday — your safari schedule will be planned around this automatically.
Day 5–6: Ranthambore – Jaipur
Drive to Jaipur, Rajasthan’s capital, known as the “Pink City” for the terracotta hue of its old town. Spend two nights discovering:
- Amber Fort — a hilltop fort-palace of mirrored halls and courtyards, one of Rajasthan’s finest
- City Palace — still partly home to Jaipur’s royal family, with museums of royal costumes and weaponry
- Hawa Mahal — the ornate five-story “Palace of Winds,” best photographed at sunrise from across the street
- Free time in Jaipur’s bazaars for block-printed textiles, blue pottery, and gemstones
Day 7–8: Jaipur – Varanasi (via domestic flight)
Fly from Jaipur to Varanasi, the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world and the spiritual capital of Hinduism. Over two nights, experience:
- A sunset Ganga Aarti ceremony at Dashashwamedh Ghat — priests performing synchronized fire rituals to the sound of bells and chanting
- An early-morning boat ride on the Ganges, watching pilgrims bathe and offer prayers as the city wakes up ● A guided walk through the old city’s narrow lanes and temples
- An excursion to Sarnath, where Buddha delivered his first teaching after enlightenment, home to the Dhamek Stupa and an archaeological museum
Day 9: Varanasi – Delhi Departure (via domestic flight)
Fly from Varanasi to Delhi. On arrival, you’ll be transferred directly to the international airport for your onward journey, bringing your Taj, Tiger & Temples experience to a close.

Why Taj, Tiger & Temples?
Most first-time visitors to India choose between history and wilderness, between monuments and meaning. This itinerary refuses to choose. It gives you the Mughal grandeur of Agra, the royal heritage of Jaipur, the untamed wild of Ranthambore, and the ancient spiritual pulse of Varanasi — four completely different faces of India, woven into one seamless nine-day journey.
A tiger sighting in Ranthambore is never guaranteed — it’s the magic of the wild — but the experience of tracking one through dense forest with an expert naturalist is unforgettable regardless of the outcome. And after the excitement of the jungle and the grandeur of Rajasthan’s palaces, Varanasi slows everything down. There’s no place quite like it anywhere in the world — a city where life and death sit side by side in the open, where pilgrims bathe at sunrise and priests chant evening Aarti with fire and bells. For many foreign travelers, this openness is startling at first, and then strangely calming.
That’s why this combination has become one of the most requested itineraries for international travelers visiting India for the first time: it doesn’t just show you India’s landmarks — it shows you India’s many different souls, in a single well-paced trip.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Golden Triangle tour, and why add Ranthambore and Varanasi?
The Golden Triangle refers to Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur — India’s three most visited cities, forming a triangle on the map. Adding Ranthambore brings a wildlife tiger safari into the route, and Varanasi extends the circuit with India’s spiritual core: the Ganges Ghats, the Ganga Aarti ceremony, and the Buddhist site of Sarnath — giving you history, wildlife, and living spiritual tradition all in one trip.
How do we travel between Jaipur, Varanasi, and Delhi?
Road transfers cover Delhi–Agra, Agra–Ranthambore, and Ranthambore–Jaipur. Jaipur to Varanasi and Varanasi to Delhi are covered by short domestic flights, since these cities are far apart by road. We book these flights on your behalf once dates are confirmed.
Is this a private tour or will we join a group?
This is a fully private tour. Your vehicle, driver, and guides are exclusively for you and your travel companions — you won’t be combined with other travelers.
Is a tiger sighting guaranteed at Ranthambore?
No sighting can ever be guaranteed in the wild — that’s part of its magic. With two full safaris across the trip, your chances are strong, and our naturalists know the park’s zones well, but tiger sightings ultimately depend on nature.
Can the itinerary be customized?
Yes. You can add extra nights, include an Udaipur or Jawai extension, change hotel categories, or adjust the pace of sightseeing. Tell us what matters most to you and we’ll tailor the plan.
Is the Taj Mahal open every day?
No — the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays. If your scheduled visit falls on a Friday, we’ll rearrange your Agra itinerary so you don’t miss it.
What should we wear when visiting temples, mosques, and the Ghats?
Modest clothing is expected — shoulders and knees covered for everyone, and shoes are removed before entering most temples and mosques. Light cotton layers work well and keep you comfortable in Varanasi’s warm, humid climate.
Is Varanasi safe and comfortable for first-time visitors to India?
Yes. Varanasi’s old city is dense and sensory — narrow lanes, crowds near the Ghats, and constant activity — but our local guide accompanies you throughout, and your concierge is reachable at any time if you need help.
What is the best time of year to do this tour?
October to March offers the most comfortable weather across all destinations — cool mornings, pleasant afternoons, and clear skies for the Ganga Aarti, sunrise Taj Mahal viewing, and tiger safaris. April to June is hot, especially in Agra, Ranthambore, and Jaipur; the monsoon (July–September) brings humidity, occasional heavy rain, and Ranthambore’s core zones are closed from 1st July to 30th September.
Are meals included, and can dietary requirements be accommodated?
Daily breakfast and dinner are included at your hotel. Vegetarian, Jain, vegan, and other dietary requirements are easily accommodated across India — just let us know when booking so we can inform hotels in advance.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend booking at least 3–4 weeks ahead, particularly for October–March travel and to secure both domestic flight seats and Ranthambore safari permits at good availability. Last-minute bookings are often possible too — contact us to check current availability.
